Viola by Robert West (16 1/16)

Viola by Robert West (16 1/16)

Back in the late /70’s, I gave my father several sets of violin wood. A few of these were large enough for viola. He finished one and it sold almost immediately to a professional violist. He eventually made another and although the workmanship in this viola is immaculate, he was getting older and the varnish left something to be desired. I carefully removed the original varnish. and refinished the instrument with the same batch of varnish that was originally used. This is a very responsive and rich instrument and is an excellent example of  my father’s work. It has more than enough power throughout it’s range to fill any hall.
